How a tuck box folds

From flat blank to closed carton in six folds, with the dieline to follow.

A tuck box arrives flat, already glued along its side seam. Folding it takes a few seconds once you know the order.

  1. Open the sleeve. Press the two folded edges of the flat carton toward each other so the body opens into a square tube.
  2. Fold in the bottom dust flaps on the side panels.
  3. Fold the bottom lid over them and slide its tuck flap inside (on a snap lock bottom, interlock the four flaps instead; an auto bottom locks by itself).
  4. Fill the carton through the open top.
  5. Fold in the top dust flaps.
  6. Close the lid and tuck the flap until the slit locks catch.

Reading a dieline

On a dieline, solid lines are cuts and dashed lines are folds. The narrow tapered strip at one end is the glue flap. The panels from left to right are usually back, side, front, side. Lids sit above and below the body panels, dust flaps beside them.

Reverse tuck end dieline: cut lines solid, fold lines dashed

Download a dieline from the dielines page, print it at 100% on card, cut and fold it: it is the quickest way to check a size against your product.
